In 2019, the Mumbai Police Crime Branch discovered a sex trafficking operation in Vile Parle (East). The operation was connected to a massage center called Thai Villa Authentic Spa, located in the Rishi building on Dixit Road in Vile Parle (East). The spa, which was opened in 2018 by Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon, is owned by Shura Khan and Sumit Singhania of Shura Leisure Private Limited. There were allegations that the spa’s owner and managers were running a prostitution business disguised as Thai massage services.

Based on the information received, Unit IX of the Crime Branch conducted a raid on a spa, resulting in the rescue of six Thai women. Subsequently, the spa’s manager and owner were arrested and taken into custody at the Vile Parle police station.

During the raid, authorities confiscated various items, such as cash, a point of sale terminal, condoms, a laptop, voucher books, and other documents, from the spa. The six women who were rescued had tourist visas but no work permits and were turned over to the Vile Parle police for further inquiry. Following the investigation, it was decided that they would be deported via the Thai consulate.

Shura Khan and Sumit Singhania, managers of the spa, were charged with offenses related to human trafficking under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.
